MySQL.com Security Notice

Source: MySQL.COM:

"Individuals recently claimed to have hacked portions of the MySQL.com and Sun.com web sites. The results of Oracle's preliminary investigation do not indicate a wide compromise; however the attackers published a small number of user IDs, e-mails, and passwords. In an abundance of caution, Oracle recommends that users who had accounts on these systems change their passwords as soon as possible. Furthermore, users who employed the same passwords on other systems should change them as well. Guidelines for choosing strong passwords are readily available on the Internet, including on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Password_strength)."

Blog Post: Australian Education Partners at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference

Source: MSDN.COM:

"

I've already mentioned that the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) is in Los Angeles this year, from 10-14th July.

This year the education partner activities will be planned to ensure that you don't miss out on other activities at the event. This means that there will be specific Education sessions during the Industry Track during the week. What's always a challenge is finding enough time during those tracks to dive into enough detail about our education solutions. One proposal is to add on a morning after the main conference has closed, to allow us to put on a mini-version of February's Global Education Partner Conference, that has been held in Seattle in the last few years.

If that idea appeals to you - or you'd simply like to be kept in the loop on plans for education sessions at GEPS - drop me an email

At the moment, you can still get the early-bird rate on the 5-day All Access Pass (which works out at less than US$400 a day) until 25th April.

I'll get more details on the education content shortly, but I'd definitely recommend registering to the conference, and considering entering yourself into the WPC Awards too (deadline extended to 29th April). If you're looking for a great way to reward a valuable member of your team, a trip to WPC would definitely be a memorable experience which would deliver significant business benefits back to you too.

Gaining New Friends in the Field of SQL Professional Job

I just had a new friend at the new freelance job that I am currently taking time after the regular office. This is just a part time type of job but so far, I am so lucky to meet new friends in the field of my professional career as a SQL pro and remote DBA certified web developer.

I know that I can earn more than what I could this year and I am thankful that indeed, I am earning more than what I should and what's best in this job is that I also get to earn friends along the way who is with the same interest as I. Glad about that so I am announcing it here in my simple blog.

Just Got a New Client for Remote DBA Job

I just accepted today a client for a remote DBA job. It is a day job but is also a freelance pay type so I can work regularly at the office where I am currently employed and at the same time, I can also see to it that I am getting paid to work freelance as a remote DBA professional after office hours.

This is just another part time job that I can get paid on regular weekly basis and I am glad that the pay isn't that bad leveling up to almost 3 quarters of my regular pay at the office knowing that this is just a few hours of day job after my regular work. Their office is just a block away from mine so I won't have to travel that long for hours. In fact, this is just a 10 minute walk down the next block.

Professionals Need a Break Too

So even though I am a truly dedicated SQL server maintenance professional worker, I do need a break too. We all do and I know that this is just right for all of us to have a little sport in our minds. For me, I love to watch Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and I personally know that come Saturday in the US at Los Angeles California in Staples Center where the NBA used to be broadcast from, we all will witness a different sport game.

It will be the UFC 104 live stream fight of Machida and Shogun Rua and I would like to assure you that I will be watching the game via cable subscription. This will be a great fight as well as I know that the different fight cards will too. Let us see however who prevails after the game.

SQL Professionals Have to Be Microsoft Certified

True that businesses need the services of SQL professionals as well as remote database administrators. This being the case, if you are an online business owner and you happen to need the services of a SQL professional or database administrators, you have to make sure that before you hire anyone, that he or she is duly certified by Microsoft.

This certification is the only way you will know that the people you are getting to work for your business is someone who you can rely on at all times Professionalism is what we call it and if there is a need for any type of service, then you should take this important matter into consideration all the time.

See particular certifications by Microsoft so you can be sure what you are dealing with when you ask for an official interview from your hiring process. Good luck.

Remote DBA and SQL Administrator Jobs

Since the widespread problem of security and database failure all over the world, the demand for SQL administrators and database maintenance professionals have increased dramatically. The problem is that most of the jobs offered for SQL and remote DBA handlers are usually offered outside of the country.

For this reason, there seems to be no room anymore for local professionals in the field of DBA and SQL jobs to be offered. I bet this will all change especially when people learn that the security issue is a serious business necessity.

Take for example the case of the conficker virus or the April Fools worm, if without some of the security experts, this could have been everywhere in the billions of business websites out there. We all owe it to the SQl database and remote DBA professionals most of the time because they are the ones responsible for taking care of the security of our data which to any business is the most important.

Meeting a Friend in the SQL Service

It's been a long time since I wrote something that would relate to the main topic of this blog about remote DBA or SQL solutions and the people behind the scene serving the businesses out there. As I've told in my previous posts, SQL professionals are the heart and soul of a business as well as the servers that these people handle for different businesses.

Today, I came close encounter with one of the best SQL maintenance people here in the Philippines where I work. His name is Jeff Manese and I know that he is one of those who might not be better than the best but what strikes me about this person is that he is so inclined to his job that he knows what and how to attack an SQL problem or bottleneck. I learned a little bit from him but I must admit that I will soon learn more. Hope to meet you again soon my friend and next time, I won't let go of you until you discuss with me that special ability you were talking about. Have a good day!

SQL DBA Pro Supports SEO Contest

Today, it' s a little bit different as I declare support to the entry that I am in to with the "Promotional Items Corporate Gifts Srednarb" SEO contest. I just made a few reviews to this race and as a professional remote DBA practitioner, I would like to help make the server of our entry site easy to access by the search engines and let the major 3 do their thing.

Today is just about 6 days away from the end of the said race to the top with the keyword which is "promotional items corporate gifts srednarb". We are on a hurry to see more links to that entry and this short blog review is part of that move to promote our entry. It is the holiday season and we are looking into getting on the top 10 of the results in Google.
